Do you enjoy hanging out on the internet and chatting with other moms-especially moms of other teens? Do you like having a place to ask for advice on what other moms would do in a certain situation? Having a place to vent about what’s going on with your kids, your significant other, your job, or just life in general?

While looking for other web sites with information on teenagers this past weekend, I ran across CafeMom It’s a great place for moms of teens, and moms in general, to hang out with other moms.

You creat your own profile page, including names and ages of kids, kids’ interests and challenges, your own interests and challenges, etc. On that page, you can upload photos of anything you want. You can choose friends from among other members. You have a journal where you can post thoughts and observations .

There are also forums where you can discuss anything you want-including some great ones for discussing teens! You can also join groups with different interests. There are groups based on everything from your kids’ ages to your favorite TV shows!

CafeMom is a great place to hang out and talk-about your kids or anything else!

CAFEMOM is a safe haven for bigots.

This site seems to be a haven for bigots using these slur filled phrases under the guise of free speech.
The debate on the use of slurs has been quashed and my posts calling out members use of these slurs, have been deleted by the administrators, (breaking their own ToS in the process) of the site.
The powers that be, continue to allow the slurs against homosexuals, people of color, those who are mentaly disabled and those who practises any faith that isn’t Evangelical Christianity.
I have since started a letter writing campaign to alert their sponsers of the situation.

It really is a shame in this day and age that parents and society as a whole, are still using and teaching children that slurs and derogetory comments against whole groups of people based on fear and hatred is acceptable and “just havin’ fun”.

Slurs are hate speech, and one should not be able to hide behind the 1st amendment, doing so is akin to and homophobes and pro-lifers ( yes pro-lifers)hiding behind their bible, in defense of their murderous actions.

I have since been removed from the site and my letter campaign will continue.

Cafemom is a wonderful place to go and get advice for a number of things. Everyone is great. I am not sure what klwright has against it??????

  3. Gayle Says:

Neither am I, Jacelynnsmom! However, since klwright offered me no way to get in touch with him/her, I am unable to ask about it any further. I, personally, like CafeMom and enjoy hanging out there!

Oh my. I am a member of cafemom and I think I recall a previous member who was incredibly smart but unfortunately quite rude. I am pretty sure her name was Kl or something like that. At any rate…this site is great…and has provided a source of information, perspective, and even tolerance for myself and thousands of other thinking moms. Keep up the excellent work cafemom!!!
